Veneer aftercare when you fly back to the UK
First-week rules, who to call, night guards, and how to brief a UK dentist who did not place the veneers.

The first days: soft food, careful cleaning, and a message to us if pain is sharp or a piece feels high. Long term: hygiene, no bottle-opening with teeth, and a night guard if you grind. Give your UK dentist the material list. We stay the coordinator; we are not a substitute A&E.
The first 72 hours
Sensitivity to cold is common. A high spot when you bite is not something to ‘get used to’ — tell us. Swelling that worsens or fever is urgent care, not Instagram.
Cleaning
Brush as shown. Floss or interdental brushes around the edges so the gum does not stay angry. Blood on day one can happen; blood on day ten needs a look.
Your UK dentist
They can scale, check the bite, and handle many small issues. They may not remake a full set for free. Bring the plan. Do not surprise them.
When to travel back
A chip that repeats, a veneer that debonds, or a planned review. We would rather see a photo first than book a panic flight.
FAQ
How long does sensitivity last?
Often days. If it is getting worse after a week, send photos and a description. Do not self-prescribe strong painkillers and wait.
Can I drink coffee?
After the dentist’s advice window. Ceramics stain less than bonding; the edge and your own tooth still can.
Do I need a night guard?
If you grind, yes. Ask before you fly home so one can be planned.
Who pays if a veneer chips in month two?
That should be in the written plan. Do not assume a lifetime warranty.
Can a UK dentist polish them?
Gently, if they know the material. Aggressive polish can dull ceramics.
Sports?
Use a mouthguard. Veneers do not make teeth invincible.
Whitening after veneers?
Ceramics will not bleach. Whitening is usually done before new work.
Emergency out of hours in the UK?
